Richie Kirwan
Senior Lecturer in Nutrition & Exercise Physiology (PhD)
Richie Kirwan has a BSc in Microbiology, an MSc in Nutrition and Metabolism and a PhD in Clinical Nutrition. He currently works as a Lecturer in Exercise Physiology at Liverpool John Moores University, and as private nutritionist.
Richie has published research with a number of high impact factor academic journals, has had lay articles published in The Conversation and Complete Nutrition, has had his research cited in health policy statements in Ireland, the UK and the USA and has been quoted frequently in The Times, and Huffington Post as well as appearing on numerous podcasts, speaking about nutrition and exercise.
Richie is active in nutrition and exercise research and currently focuses on using high-protein, cardioprotective diets and resistance exercise to improve body composition and strength and reduce the risk of conditions like heart disease and diabetes.
In his free time, Richie likes to hit the gym, play the Irish sport of hurling, cook, and then eat what he cooks. He has also been known to enjoy a little salsa dancing.
